Portland Does Vegan Right

Portland has some of the best vegan food in the world. The menus are creative; the options are endless. Whatever you’re craving you can satisfy it here. From chicken n’ waffles to gourmet cheese platters, we love everything this city has to offer. Check out these spots next time you’re in Portland.

Vtopia Cheese Shop and Deli

Cheese is hard to imitate but Vtopia does a flawless job. The cheese is cultured and aged like dairy cheese. From mozzarella to camembert it’s impossible to pick a favorite. Try them all on a delicious platter. The explosion of flavor will make your jaw drop. Not only for vegans who love cheese but also cheese eaters who want to expand their palate, Vtopia is the ultimate experience.

Back To Eden Bakery

Back to Eden Bakery is perfect if you’re looking for ice cream. It’s located in a cute, artsy part of Portland. The shop is quaint, well lit, and has nice decor. The pastries taste too healthy to be dessert so stick to the soft-serve. It’s just as creamy and delicious as dairy ice cream! They make amazing sundaes with various toppings like nuts, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and more. The milkshakes come in interesting flavors like orange cream, PB&J, and chocolate peppermint. Come for the ice cream and I promise you’ll love it.

Homegrown Smokehouse and Deli

Say hello to the cutest faux meat shop ever. Homegrown Smokehouse offers plant-based pastrami, ham, beef, and salami that tastes a lot like real meat. It’s thicker and has more flavor than the vegan sandwich meat you find in stores. The shop was created by a former steak salesman so you know he’s serious about his meat.

I saw the future of vegan food come alive in Portland

Sizzle Pie

There should be a Sizzle Pie in every city. It’s a regular pizza shop that offers a lot of vegan options. Meats include pepperoni, sausage, chorizo, or buffalo jackfruit. Top it off with variety of cheeses like daiya, tofu dollops, or basil cashew spread. Start with a plate of their warm and crispy breadsticks but save room for the pizza because it’s huge.

Killingsworth Dynasty

You know you’re winning as a vegan in 2016 when you can order chicken n’ waffles for takeout. I almost can’t handle how much this tastes like real fried chicken. It’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The waffles are fluffy and filling. The only thing I don’t like is the syrup because I’m pretty sure it’s just agave nectar. The chicken n’ waffles are too good to miss out on so bring a bottle of Aunt Jemima syrup and you’ll be satisfied
